Thank you for your observations and saving me from purchasing an inferior product. I too had been using Magellan Roadmate for my various iOS versions and iPhones for many years and was quite happy with it - yet unless I missed something I was never able to obtain any map updates, nor any MITAC notifications that they no longer support this iOS app. Matter of fact, on their website they still show the two iOS versions of Magellan Roadmate with a link to the Apple Store yet once you get to the Apple Store one a receives a message that the app is 'currently' not available.
How is that for competence? So much for competent customer service! Installed a 1 month subscription to turn by turn navigation. The app crashes with every attempt to "Go" to a destination. Other than asking me for a "photo" I was never able to figure out what they wanted -- a pic of a blank screen? Got a refund from Apple, called it a day. The developer, Magellan , has not provided details about its privacy practices and handling of data to Apple.
